The fifth round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship was held for the first time in Belgrade with the Serbia GP.

DOMINIK OLSZOWY SCORES VALUABLE POINTS AT THE SERBIA GP OF SUPERENDURO

Up to 10,000 spectators were able to follow the different competitions live from the Belgrade Arena. This round did not count towards the FIM Europe European Cup, so the Rieju Factory Team was represented solely by Dominik Olszowy.

The competition began with the SuperPole on a track layout that was faster and less technical than in other rounds of the championship. Nevertheless, it was still demanding and once again delivered intense battles for the top positions.

Competing in the Prestige class, Dominik Olszowy did not have his best day, going out onto the track physically stiff and not feeling comfortable. In the first of the three races of the afternoon/evening, he had a poor start, running initially among the last riders and, despite making several overtakes, he finished in eighth position.

In the second final, thanks to a much better starting position, he launched off the line very quickly and secured the holeshot, moving into first place. However, a large group of rivals was chasing him closely from behind. Dominik maintained a strong pace, but gradually he was overtaken by his competitors and once again finished the race in eighth position. The third and final race followed, and once again, an unfavorable starting position and a track on which he failed to find a good feeling left him in ninth place.

With these results, he finished the Serbia GP in eighth overall. With hardly any time to train, Olszowy will face the penultimate round of the season at the UK GP in Newcastle. He is currently sixth in the provisional overall standings with 124 points, where he hopes to improve his results.

Dominik Olszowy:

“The first SuperEnduro Grand Prix of Serbia caught me off guard. I felt stiff all day and couldn’t find a good rhythm on the fast but intense Belgrade track. We managed to get the holeshot in the second race, but overall I only achieved an eighth place. I’m definitely not happy with my riding or the results, but it’s time to reset and focus on next weekend’s round in Newcastle. We’ll keep fighting!”
