The SuperEnduro World Championship celebrates the second round in Germany, with Alfredo Gómez defending the colours of the Rieju Factory Team.

ALFREDO GÓMEZ FINISHES 5TH AT THE GERMAN SUPERENDURO GP

The SuperEnduro World Championship, which started last December in Poland, held its second round on 7 January in Riesa (Germany). The SachsenArena was full of fans to see the spectacle of the international stars, on a technical track, but faster than the previous one.

In this second competition, Alfredo Gómez, still adapting to his MR 300, defended the colours of the Rieju Team, showing speed and technique in his fight against the best riders in the speciality. After the sum of the results of the three finals, he took an outstanding fifth position.

In the first of the finals, Alfredo, despite starting from the second row, managed to overtake a group of riders shortly after the start, to place himself in the top five; as the laps went by, Gómez not only held his own, but crossed the finish line in fourth position.

In the second final, Alfredo, who started on the front row, made a good start, but after the first corner, in an area of logs, a rider next to him fell, also causing Gómez to fall, and he was relegated to the penultimate position. From then on, the Rieju rider began a spectacular comeback, overtaking numerous riders and recovering positions to finish in sixth place.

In the third and last final, Gómez started from the second row, despite this, at the start he got a good line, overtaking several riders, continuing with this pace until he was in the top five and holding well the attacks of his competition, shortly after the end, he managed to overtake another rider to finish again in fourth position.

Alfredo Gómez, after these first two races of the world championship, is in the provisional fifth position in the Prestige class.

The next round of the championship will be held on 4 February with the Hungarian GP in Budapest.

Alfredo Gómez:

"Well, the truth is that I started quite well, in qualifying I was eighth, but very close to make fifth, I missed a second faster. It was quite a technical track and when it gets messy I usually do well. In the finals I finished fourth, sixth and fourth, sixth in the second final after the start, when I crashed when Olszowy swept me, but I recovered very well. We need to work a bit more with the bike to be more competitive, but we are on a good line".
