Veteran Joan Pedrero has finished stage 5 of the Dakar in position 27 and Oriol Mena in 28. Both remain in the top 25 of the general classification of their category, occupying positions 22 and 23 respectively.
The RIEJU TEAM rider, Joan Pedrero finished stage 5 of the Dakar Rally in 27th position with a time of 05H 51'11 '', (+ 00H 41 '21' ') behind the leader of today's stage of 622 km of tour, the Argentine Kevin Benavides. On his side, his teammate Oriol Mena finished the stage in 28th place, with a time of 05H 55'34 ''. The rookie Marc Calmet crossed the finish line in position 47, with a time of 07:23:58.
Today's stage has been somewhat complicated, as Oriol Mena told us:
"The truth is that it has been quite an odyssey to arrive in this 5th stage. I had a small problem at km 80, the swingarm axle broke, which is the axle that supports all the force of the motorcycle's rear axle. I have been able to solve it, I am here, with stones, with a screwdriver, chopping ... A lot of things, but hey, in the end I am here, I have taken the bike to the Bibac, which is what matters, we are whole and tomorrow more. Rumor has it that Carlos Sainz has hit me and knocked me to the ground. That is not true, so that you are all calm and that you really know what happened."
We are very proud of the results and wish our riders the best.
