The “6DAYS FIM Enduro of Nations” in Portugal put the finishing touch this Saturday to a historic edition by the Atlantic Ocean. The final Cross Test races, held on the sand of Praia Vasco da Gama, closed six intense days of competition and decided the final classifications.
The Portuguese edition stood out both for celebrating the centenary of the 6DAYS and for the toughness of the event. The heat, dryness and dust especially affected the first days, to the point of forcing the organisation to shorten the route of the fourth day for safety reasons.
On the fifth day, the fine, deep sand once again tested the riders between Grândola and Alcácer do Sal, before facing the decisive final Cross Test in Sines. A final battle that brought to a close a historic and especially demanding edition.
Rachel Gutish returns to the top with the United States
Rachel Gutish once again brought great joy to RIEJU by becoming Champion together with her teammates of the United States team in the Women’s World Trophy category.
The US team once again dominated an especially tough and demanding competition to reach the top of the podium and celebrate a new world title at the 6DAYS, the second in a row for RIEJU.
Throughout the week, Gutish maintained fast, solid and consistent riding, which was key to contributing to the collective success. Individually, the American completed the 6DAYS in seventh position among the Women’s, also placing her RIEJU MR 300i as the first two-stroke motorcycle in the category.
Rosie Rowett also showed a high competitive level as part of the Great Britain team. The British team provisionally reached third position, but a technical problem suffered by one of its members ended up leaving the team with no chance of fighting for the podium.
In the end, Great Britain finished tenth in the team classification, while Rowett achieved an outstanding tenth position individually and finished as the second-best rider among two-stroke motorcycles. A result that once again demonstrates the competitiveness, efficiency and reliability of the RIEJU MRi, even in conditions as demanding as those experienced in Portugal.
Great performance by the RIEJU Race Service in the Club categories
The Club categories also brought excellent results for RIEJU, with a large representation of riders on RIEJU MR motorcycles, assisted and advised throughout the week by the RIEJU Race Service team.
Riders from Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Italy and Spain faced one of the most demanding editions of recent years with a clear goal: to reach the finish after six very tough days of competition. A challenge they successfully completed, accompanied, moreover, by very satisfactory results.
In the C3 category, Valentín Ávila Huerta finished in an outstanding tenth position, followed by Armando Santos, 25th; Javier Castejón, 39th and sixth by teams; Isidoro Martínez, 42nd and fourth by teams; Francisco Aranda, 54th; Arturo Casanovas, 61st and sixth by teams; Antonio Muñoz, 65th; Bruno Pellegrini, 69th; Aldo Nunes, 73rd; Florencia Cabrera, 77th; and Patricio Soto, 80th. In the C1 category, Pedro Salido completed the competition in 70th position.
RIEJU thus closes the historic 100th edition of the “6DAYS FIM Enduro of Nations” with a new world title, important sporting results and a solid performance by its motorcycles and riders in one of the toughest and most demanding settings in international enduro.
