BILBAO SUPERENDURO: ERIC MIQUEL CONTINUES TO DOMINATE THE EUROPEAN CUP

The FIM SuperEnduro World Championship held its third round of the season this past Saturday in Spain, specifically at the Bizkaia Arena pavilion in the city of Bilbao.

BILBAO SUPERENDURO: ERIC MIQUEL CONTINUES TO DOMINATE THE EUROPEAN CUP

The event stood out for its demanding and distinctive track design compared to previous rounds—narrower, slower, and more technical than usual—forcing riders to adapt quickly.

Dominik Olszowy, competing in the World Championship, and Éric Miquel in the European Cup, both riding their MR 300i machines, represented the Rieju Factory Team.

After completing practice sessions and qualifiers, the real action began with the SuperPole, where Dominik Olszowy set the seventh-fastest time.

In the first of the three final races, Olszowy struggled to find his rhythm on the track, finishing in eighth position. During the second race, with the typical reversed grid start, Dominik improved his performance and, after an intense battle, finished fourth. In the third race, he crossed the line in tenth place. With the combined results, Dominik Olszowy secured seventh overall. After three rounds, Olszowy sits sixth in the provisional championship standings with 72 points.

Éric Miquel leaves no chance to his rivals in the European Cup

As for the FIM European Cup, the championship where Éric Miquel continues to reign, he once again demonstrated his skill by dominating the first race, taking victory with a clear margin over the rest of the field. In the second final, the fight for the win was much closer, with Miquel exchanging leading positions several times with his rivals. Despite this, near the end he regained the lead and also won the second race. Thanks to this outstanding performance, Éric Miquel once again climbed to the top step of the podium at the end of the night. With three consecutive victories from the three rounds held, Miquel remains the clear championship leader.

Éric Miquel – Rieju Factory Team:

“Really great. In practice we went out to learn a very technical and slow circuit; it was easy to make mistakes, but honestly it went well for me. It wasn’t easy to find the rhythm, but I found the feeling, and in qualifying I was already first with a good margin. In the first race I got a good start and took the lead from the beginning; without too many problems I managed to pull away from the two riders behind me, finishing with the win and a 20-second gap, which allowed me to ride safely. In the second race we didn’t start quite as well; even so, I placed myself among the top three and then took the lead. However, in the following laps I made a mistake and had to fight hard with León and del Olmo. I pushed again and in the last two laps I recovered first position. Very happy—it was quite a physical race. We keep improving and gaining experience, which helps us continue fighting for the European title. Now we’re already thinking about the next race in Hungary.”

For the fourth round of the season, the Rieju Factory Team riders will travel to Hungary, specifically to Budapest, on the evening of January 31st.
