Completed the second part of the marathon stage. Today they have run a total of 709 km and, once again, we have achieved them!
RIEJUTEAM rider Oriol Mena finished stage 8 of the Rally Dakar in position 21 with a time of 03H32'25 '', just over 23 minutes behind today's stage leader, Jose Ignacio Cornejo. Joan Pedrero, finished the stage in 28th place with a time of 03H43'392 '(+ 34'52' '), finally, Marc Calmet crossed the finish line in position 56 with a time of 04H51'06 '' (+01H42'26 '').
Today, Oriol Mena told us:
“Stage 8: the positive day. In the end I was able to finish a special stage again without having mechanical problems. Today was a stage with many dangers in the initial part and the dust from the riders who came out in front of me slowed my pace a lot. On the 130 km I have already been able to ride almost alone and thus be able to put my pace until the end. Glad to finish one more day. Tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities."
