ALFREDO GOMEZ FINISHES SIXTH AT HIXPANIA 2023

Alfredo Gómez is third on the podium in the Superencierro and sixth in the Lost Roads, while Eric Miquel is fifth in the Junior category.

The penultimate round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship took place in Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia) with the legendary 24MX Hixpania Hard Enduro, an event that was represented once again this year by the Rieju Factory Team with riders Alfredo Gómez and Eric García.

The traditional SuperEnduro type race held on Friday in the main square of Aguilar de Campoo was marred by rain, leaving the track very delicate, for this reason it was decided that it was not scoring, it was only held as an exhibition, despite this, there was a podium in which Alfredo Gómez, after dominating the day, finally managed to climb to third place.

The Campoo X-Treme race on Saturday was over 40 kilometres long. The Pro riders did two laps in which there were several technical sections that complicated the pace of the riders. As the organisers used Saturday's Campoo X-Treme as a prologue race to score points, the pace among the riders was very high. Alfredo Gómez performed more conservatively, knowing that Sunday's final would be very physically demanding, and finished in sixth place.

On Sunday the drivers again started from the cave to start the Lost Roads, the main race of the event. Alfredo was third during the first two laps, but then the physical effort was very noticeable, making some mistakes, because of this he was delayed, also suffered a fall that forced him to slow down the pace somewhat, finishing in sixth place in the top Knight class.

For his part, Eric Miquel, competing among the juniors, was fourth in the Campoo X-Treme race on Saturday and 19th overall. On Sunday in the Lost Roads, he was able to complete six laps, to finish in fifth position among the Juniors and 21st overall.

The riders will now compete in the last round of the Spanish Hard Enduro Championship in Almedina - Ciudad Real, to be held on 21 and 22 October, before attending the FIM World Championship in Germany, with the Getzenrodeo from 3 to 4 November.

Statements Alfredo Gómez:
"On Friday we started very well, finishing third and about to win the Superencierro. On Saturday I wanted to be in the top ten, I finished sixth and saved a bit of strength for Sunday. In the final race I started quite well, I was in third position for two laps, trying to catch the riders in front, but the truth is that I made a lot of mistakes, it's quite difficult for me, I get tired a lot, so I crashed once, so I decided to slow down a bit, finish as high as possible and in the end I was able to finish sixth. It's not where I'd like to be, I'd like to be higher up, but for now we have to keep working to be able to do it, so I'm happy, let's keep training and go for Getzenrodeo".
