The FIM EnduroGP World Championship landed on Swedish soil for the third round of the season.
The Swedish GP kicked off the competition on Friday at Skövde, with a Super Test on a very demanding, narrow, technical and slippery track. Dominik Olszowy took advantage of his skills in this type of competition to set an excellent time, which initially seemed unbeatable, although it was finally improved by one of the world champions, so he had to settle for a magnificent second place scratch. In the Junior class, Àlex Puey finished twelfth.
On Saturday, an equally demanding route awaited the riders, with special stages over a tough terrain, both technically and physically, with some very stony areas, which marked the development of the race.
Under these conditions, Dominik Olszowy attacked with his MR300i, although some mistakes and crashes left him fighting for sixth place, to finish in seventh place in E-3, on this first day. A complicated day for Àlex Puey, who in his battle in the numerous Junior class, made several mistakes, finishing seventh in J1 and sixteenth in Junior, Lorenzo Bernini finished tenth in J2 and nineteenth in Junior, while in Open2S, Jordi Galera was fifth.
On Sunday, the same specials were repeated, Olszowy, in a terrain where he was not at ease, could not improve, and ended up repeating his result in seventh place in E-3. Positive results for the championship for the Polish rider, as he moved up two positions in the provisional classification, now seventh in E3. Meanwhile, Àlex Puey finished sixth in J1 and fifteenth in Junior, moving up three positions in the provisional J2 classification, currently sixth. Lorenzo Bernini was tenth in J2 and sixteenth in Junior. For his part, Jordi Galera repeated fifth position.
The fourth round of the FIM World Championship will take place on the 1st and 3rd of August in Rhayader, with the Welsh GP, a race that will also count for the Women's category and that will be attended by Rachel Gutish and Rosie Rowett.
Dominik Olszowy - Rieju Factory Team:
"Very happy with my performance in the Super Test by achieving the second fastest EnduroGP time. On Saturday the pace was very fast under a tricky and slippery terrain, suffering some crashes and mistakes, so I didn't quite find my flow. On the second day of the race I was able to improve a bit. With the new bike I'm getting more adapted every day and I'm very happy with the team, we're still looking forward to improving".
Miquel García - Manager Rieju Factory Team:
"With Dominik Olszowy we are very happy, he is our main rider, every day he is improving and learning in this new enduro speciality for him. The MR300i is working really well and is proving to be competitive in the different terrains and conditions.
Regarding our junior riders, here in Sweden they have had some very difficult and hard races where they have suffered a lot; Àlex Puey, Lorenzo Bernini and Jordi Galera in Open2S, little by little they have been picking up the pace".
